• An overview of trenches and the idea of stalemate in Europe. Students take notes on key words.

• An opportunity to watch a video and complete a diagram of the trench cross section.

• Information about the threats the people in trenches might face.

• A task to study the trench system and label a diagram showing the firing trench, support trench, communication trenches etc.

• A plenary quiz at the end.
