This lesson contains:

• Background info on Czechoslovakia and the problems the country faced (i.e. poverty, lack of freedom of speech, lower standard of living etc.)

• The introduction of Alexander Dubcek and his 'socialism with a human face' reforms. Activtiy provided.

• The reaction of Brezhnev and the Warsaw Pact invasion. A video and consolidation activities are provided.

• The consequences of the Prague Spring and the invasion, as well as the Brezhnev Doctrine. Activity provided to consolidate the impact.

• A choice of plenaries: a source analysis and an exam question.
