Germany L2 - Did the Constitution Make Germany Strong or Weak?

This lesson contains:

• A discussion of how the government was created and what a constitution is. 

• An activity to read some parts of the constitution to assess how democratic is really was.

• A guide to the problems the government faced including Article 48, Coalitions and Proportionate Representation. Students judge the reasons they might lead to problems.

• An opportunity to judge the problem most likely to lead to weakness. 

• A plenary quiz to consolidate the knowledge.

• A video from YouTube to summarise the issues the government faced from within.

• A colour-coding activity assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the government.

• A plenary exam question to judge the state of the government against an interpretation, and  then peer assess the answer.
