L6 - How Did France Erupt in Revolution?
This lesson contains:
- A teacher-led introduction to the problems facing Louis and his calling of the Estates General. This includes a walk through of who attended and where they sat using an animated image.
- A main activity broken into chunks - the students study three characters who have a story to tell; one from the Bourgeoisie, one from the Sans Culottes and one from the peasants. They complete timeline as they work through, covering the Tennis Court Oath, Bastille, women's march, Great Fear etc. The students have questions to answer within the timeline to help them. You can lead them through it person-by-person (using the Bastille video too) or let them go for it themselves.
- A study of the Declaration of the Rights of Man. Students will then complete a small table to show how it tried to improve people's lives.
- A plenary to conclude and sum up some knowledge.
