Crusades L5 - What Was Life Like in Outremer?

This lesson contains:
An overview reminding students of the fall of Jerusalem and that now, the two sides had to find a way to live together.
A task to stick in map in the centre of a page as a mind map. As you work through the next few slides, students make a mind map of the ways in which the land changed, including the creation of Outremer, the formation of towns and castles, the immersing of Christians into the culture of the region - there is also, if you choose, a slide at the end of this segment if you prefer them to  have a scaffolded opportunity instead.
An activity to read about the Templars and Hospitillars and to fill out a small worksheet about them.
the main task to study a series of sources about life in Outremer. The students make a small table in their books to record the information about the ways trade and information sharing happened. There are extension activities as well.
A plenary to consider if peace like this was likely to continue.
