Was Mary Really That Bloody?
This lesson contains:
- An introduction to Mary and her position within the Tudor family tree.
- An activity for students to study information about Mary's life and reign as queen and to consider why she was seen as popular on one side, and unpopular on the other.
- Students then study a quote from Simon Jenkins about her. They analyse this and comprehend what the interpretation is saying. They then study a series of statements about Mary's legacy and decide which pieces of evidence agree or disagree with the interpretation. Students then have an opportunity to write up their findings using historical writing techniques and making their own judgement about Mary.
