Women's Suffrage L7 - What Impact Did WW1 Have on Suffrage?
This lesson contains:
- A starter to review the previous lesson on Women's rights, on their roles in WW1. However, you can amend this to suit whatever you taught last.
- A video and then discussion about the potential impact WW1 had on women's rights.
- A look at some sources and what they tell us about the change in attitudes after WW1 regarding women's rights. As well as that, what we can learn about how women's own perceptions of themselves began to change.
- A main task to colour-code certain statements about the impact of WW1 on women. Some statements show little change, some change or large change in their rights. This extends into an opportunity for extended writing and a judgement by students.
- A plenary to decide the biggest factors that led to women's rights under the Representation of the People Act 1918.
