Women's Suffrage L5 - Did the Suffragettes Help or Hinder Their Cause ?
This lesson contains:
- A starter activity to consider a source, the 'Shrieking Sister', and what it might tell us about public reactions to the Suffragettes.
- A chance to go through the meaning of 'direct action' and study a historian's quote about perceptions of the Suffragettes, and then look at a video interview with a contrasting view. This opens an opportunity for discussion about the differing viewpoints.
- An activity to then use a series of sources and quotes to build up arguments for and against whether the Suffragettes helped or hindered themselves and the cause.
- An opportunity for a final judgement and extended writing.
