Dictators L9 - How Did Hitler Keep Power?

This lesson contains:
An overview of the situation when Hitler has come to power. Students recap the previous lesson on his rise. They also find out about the different methods Hitler will use to keep his pwoer, using the 'carrot and stick' analogy.
A video which gives a nice overview of Hitler's methods to keep power. I have edited it so that it is 5 mins and sticks to the main points.
A series of slides that the teachwer can talk through which shows lots of images of life in Hitler's Germany and the ways he maintained his control. This culminates in a task to study 5 information sheets and use them to complete the chart to show the ways he kept control (peaceful means through to forceful means). The students do this to show the different methods.
A plenary to consider the ways Hitler's control different or was similar to Mussolini's control. This is useful if you have taught the Mussolini lessons from this SOW.
