Migration L6 – What Was the Impact of the Saxons?
This lesson contains:
- A starter to check previous learning. You can edit this to suit whatever you have previously taught.
- A teacher-led recap of the Saxon takeover, including how they pushed the Celts out to the extremities of Britain. The teacher then goes through some slides on what life was life in Saxon Britain, including the Witan, religion and homes. The students pay attention and do the discussion tasks and then complete a gap fill to check their knowledge.
- A main task for students to study a series of sources on an A3 sheet. They then complete a comparison of Britain before the Saxons and afterwards using the worksheet. They then make judgements about the impact the Saxons had.
- Two plenaries to choose from to recap the learning from the lesson.
