Slavery L6 - What Was Life Like on Plantations?

This lesson contains:
A starter which shows a video to the students and then asks them some discussion questions about life on the plantations. The title page of the PPT also contains a definition that students can write down.
A main activity to study a series of information cards with lots of parts of life on the plantations, like free time, punishments, work etc. Students use this to complete a mind map. The information sheet suggests the questions to be answered and can be used if students struggle to make their own notes.
A follow up activity using two descriptions of the day in the life of a slave. Students summarise the key differences and also the king of things they experienced.
Two different plenaries; one is a quiz, another is a discussion slide which can be an extended writing opportunity if you prefer.
