Slavery L8 & L9 - Why Was Slavery Abolished?

This lesson contains:
A starter with lots of recall questions from the previous lessons. This can easily be edited to fit whatever you have taught previously. As you click, an image is revealed to be a starter into the lesson of abolition.
An activity to watch a trailer for Amazing Grace (2007) and the students will discuss what it teaches us about William Wilberforce's character. Then, students watch a scene from the film and summarise the arguments that were given by politicians looking to block abolition.
A task to study some key characters from abolition and to summarise their contributions.
Another activity, this time to study the reasons for abolition and to categorise them. Students then have extended writing on the topic.
 
This lesson can easily take 2 lessons, or just one if you skip the extended writing and miss some parts out. Use what you feel you need.
