Crusades L2 - Why Was a Crusade Launched in 1096?

This lesson contains:
A 'do it now' starter which can be edited.
A discussion of what a crusade is, with students having the chance to write this down.
An activity to read information about the causes of the Crusades and to complete a series of questions.
An on-board overview of the crusades and where they visited. This is then followed by an activity to study the an information sheet with lots of different, jumbled boxes on and use it to complete an overview timeline of the Crusades. This gives the students the 'big picture' of the Crusades. This is extended by having to consider the biggest turning points.
A plenary activity (true/false) in their books.
