Silk Roads L1 - What Were the Silk Roads?

This lesson contains:

• An introduction to the idea of the Silk Roads and Peter Frankopan's book. Students study a definition and annotate with the teacher.

• A video from YouTube and some follow up questions for discussion.

• A guided read from 'The Silk Roads' book with comprehension questions about the Silk Road as an intro.

• A task to study a series of small info cards on 12 locations on the Silk Roads. Students read the details and put them in the right order, then annotate a map with the major locations, plus extra info about what could be found in a few of them, of their choice.

• A plenary with some questions from the lesson.
