Silk Roads L2 - What Was Traded on the Silk Roads?

This lesson contains:

• An introduction to globalised products by examining the example of a pencil and all the countries involved in making such a simple product. This leads to the Silk Roads and some slides on the diverse nature of the roads.

• A video and small multiple choice activity about the goods that travelled on the Silk Roads.

• An activity to study different products that passed on the Silk Roads and where they came from. Students annotate their versions of the map and also add who might like these products.

• A plenary to consider three characters and what products they might be buying, and why.
