This lesson contains:
A starter to see what they may or may not already know from their KS3 study of medieval England.
An introduction to the Saxons and where they came from, with maps on board for teacher explanation and a YouTube video that discusses the history of Britain after the Romans left.
A talk through about the ‘story’ for this GCSE by 1060, including Edward the Confessor, Danelaw and how the Saxons lived.
An activity to use the information sheet to complete the hierarchical structure gap fill on the worksheet.
An added discussion about social mobility in Saxon England, and a final plenary to test the students’ knowledge from today.
