Saxons & Normans L2 - How Was Saxon Law and Government Controlled?
This lesson contains:
- A discussion on the board about the powers and responsibilities of a king during this era, and the effectiveness of Edward the Confessor. Students then use the information sheet to complete a small table in their books to acknowledge Edward’s strengths and weaknesses in the 1060’s.
- A video to help explain the way that law and order in England was maintained, followed by a main activity to use the information sheet to complete a knowledge organiser (best on A3). This shows the structure of the land of England and how each part was administered. It’s an ‘all in one page’ sheet that will help later with revision.
- A plenary to practice the one mark ‘one features’ question.
