Saxons & Normans L5 - The Rising Against Tostig

This lesson contains:
An introduction to Northumbria where Tostig was earl and some of the key features of the people up there. There is then a video from YouTube and an information sheet that covers the problems of Tostig’s reign, which the students note on their worksheet.
A discussion and exercise to note Harold’s response. The students complete questions about the actions Harold took towards his brother and to the earldom, and Morcar’s ascension. This also goes through how this went above Edward’s head and shows the power Harold possessed.
A plenary to offer some exam practice based on the learning.
