Saxons & Normans L25 – William's Family & Robert's Rebellion

This lesson contains:
A look at William’s character and what people think of him retrospectively. Students colour code the sheet and write a summary judgement.
An introduction to William’s family. Students draw the family tree then annotate using the descriptions on the board.
A main task to read the story of Robert’s rebellion and highlight key facts. There is a video that accompanies (YouTube) and then students complete some questions  to consolidate their knowledge.
A plenary to plan a response to an exam question, 3 paragraphs, and students can either write it, or you can get them to simply list what they might include in each paragraph.
